Loss In Sharing

Google is currently testing a feature in Chrome for Android that automatically redacts sensitive information such as credit card details and passwords when you share or record your screen. This added layer of privacy helps protect your confidential data during screen-sharing sessions.

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed to attend a virtual meeting with your phone and share your screen without a system? Here’s what you need to know about sharing your Android Screen on Chrome browser.

The Process

When this feature is enabled, if sensitive form fields (such as credit card information) are present on a page, the entire content area is redacted during screen sharing, screen recording, and similar actions. It’s important to note that this functionality works only on Android versions Vand above.

Protecting Sensitive Information on Chrome Android

To protect your sensitive information while screen-sharing on Chrome for Android, consider the following steps:

Close Sensitive Tabs: Before starting a screen-sharing session, close any tabs containing sensitive information (such as credit card details or passwords). This ensures that sensitive data won’t accidentally appear on the shared screen.

Upcoming Chrome Feature: Google is working on an experimental feature for Chrome on Android that will automatically redact “sensitive form fields” (like credit card info andpasswords) when you share or record your screen. Although this feature isn’t available yet, watch for it in future updates.

Privacy Settings: Additionally, review your Google privacy settings. To turn off data sharing with third-party apps, follow these steps:

·       Goto “Manage your Google Account.”

·       Navigateto “Security.”

·       Under“Third-party apps with account access,” click on the app’s name and select“Remove Access.”

·       Repeatthe same process for apps that use "Signing in with Google".

Remember, It is important to be cautious of who you are sharing your information with and also the protection of your data.
